Track your protein without a spreadsheet
Set a protein target, photograph your meals, and watch the day add up. Each result shows protein beside calories, carbs and fat.

What you see
Every meal you log in Luca has four numbers: calories, protein, carbs and fat, always in that order. Your day has a target for each, so you can see how much protein you have had and how much is left, at a glance or on a widget.
Getting a useful protein number
Protein estimates depend mostly on one thing: how much of the protein-rich food is on the plate. A photo is fair at telling chicken from tofu and weaker at telling 120 g from 180 g. So:
- Correct the portion of the main protein source. If you know the weight or the count (three eggs, one tin of tuna), type it. That one edit does most of the work.
- Use the barcode for packets. Yogurt, milk, protein bars, tinned fish and deli meat all have labels. If the data disagrees with the pack in your hand, trust the pack.
- Save your regulars. Mark the meals you repeat as favorites. They keep your corrected numbers and take one tap.
A day, roughly
| Meal | How to log it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Yogurt and fruit | Barcode for the yogurt, then add the fruit | The label states the numbers |
| Lunch out | Photo, then correct the portion | A fast estimate is better than no entry |
| Protein bar | Barcode | Label data |
| Dinner at home | Photo, then fix the meat or beans and add the oil | You know what went in the pan |
What Luca will not do
It will not tell you how much protein you should eat, and it makes no promise about muscle, weight or health. For background on where common protein figures come from, read protein targets: the basics and macros explained. They are general information, not advice.

Photo, voice and text results are estimates and they are approximate. Adjust them when you know better. Luca is not a medical device and does not give dietary advice.
Questions
Can Luca tell how much protein is in a meal from a photo?
It gives an estimate. Luca names the foods, estimates the portions and returns protein in grams with calories, carbs and fat. Portion size drives the protein number, so correct the amount of meat, fish, eggs, dairy or beans if you know it.
Does Luca set my protein target for me?
Luca has daily targets for calories, protein, carbs and fat, and you can set them to what suits you. It does not give dietary advice. For a target that fits your health and activity, ask a qualified professional.
What is the most reliable way to log protein in Luca?
For packaged foods such as yogurt, protein bars or tinned fish, scan the barcode so the number comes from label data. For cooked food, use a photo and then correct the portion of the main protein source.
Snap it. Luca counts.
